SAN FRANCISCO (CHICAGOPRESSRELEASE.COM) – Amazon.com said its best-selling Kindle device was currently out of stock, leading one Internet analyst to surmise the online retailer was poised to launch a new version. On its website on Wednesday, the world’s largest Web retailer posted a “temporarily out of stock” notice next to its $189 Kindle, the much talked-about e-reader that Amazon says is the best selling item on its site.

Typo sends parking violators to wrong Web site

A typographical error on parking tickets being issued by the city of Springfield directs people to a Web site where, among other things, they can contact a Missouri attorney to have their traffic tickets “fixed.” The problem is a missing “e.” People wishing to pay their parking tickets online are directed to go to “Illinoispay.com” when it should be “Illinoisepay.com” The tickets apparently have been in use for two years, according to the city’s public works director, Mike Norris. That is the office that orders the tickets for the city.

Seoul, South Korea (CNN) — Police have arrested a South Korean couple whose toddler starved to death while they were raising a virtual child online, authorities said. The couple fed their 3-month-old daughter once a day between marathon stretches in a local Internet cafe, where they were raising a virtual child in the fantasy role-playing game Prius Online, police told local reporters Friday.
