CHICAGO – Heath care providers are pledging to stop the overuse of radiation on patients during medical exams in a new, nationwide safety effort launched this week in Chicago. The first step in the Image Wisely campaign is a pledge — signed so far by nearly 700 health care providers — to use the least radiation necessary on patients for a procedure.

LOS ANGELES – Federal regulators launched an investigation Monday into lead levels in drinking glasses depicting comic book and movie characters, declaring that the items are subject to strict standards for “children’s products.” Testing commissioned by The Associated Press revealed that the glasses contained lead up to 1,000 times the federal limit for children’s products. The items also contained lesser amounts of the more-toxic metal cadmium.

‘Natural’ sex aid contains Viagra drug, US watchdog warns

WASHINGTON (AFP) – The US drug safety watchdog warned consumers on Friday not to use a male sexual stimulant that is marketed as natural but contains the active ingredient found in Viagra. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said Vigor-25, which is sold as a natural dietary supplement to enhance male sexual performance, contains sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, which could dangerously lower blood pressure if it interacts with other prescription drugs.
